Our Story
Coronado Animal Clinic is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary clinic providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories, and work closely with referral practices when specialized diagnostics are required.
Our facility includes multiple exam rooms, a surgery suite, digital X-ray and ultrasound capabilities, in-house laboratory, and a well-stocked pharmacy — everything your pet needs under one roof.
At Coronado Animal Clinic, our goal is to provide exceptional veterinary care paired with trusted guidance to help your pet live a long, happy, and healthy life. We believe that great veterinary medicine goes beyond treating illness—it focuses on prevention, education, and building lasting relationships with our clients.
Our dedicated team is committed to providing compassionate, personalized care at every stage of your pet's life. Whether your companion is here for a routine wellness exam, preventive care, advanced diagnostics, surgery, or treatment for an illness, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Meet the Team
Experienced, compassionate veterinarians who treat every patient like their own.
Dr. Hutchison's path to veterinary medicine is one of a kind. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, then served as a US Army field artillery officer — including some time jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.
He earned his DVM with honors from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, followed by a one-year rotating internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital covering emergency medicine, internal medicine, and surgery. He then spent two decades practicing in the greater Orlando area, where he raised his three sons.
In 2018, Dr. Hutchison and his family relocated to New Smyrna Beach, where he had the fortune of crossing paths with Dr. Robert Leonard and taking over Coronado Animal Clinic. He loves this community and is proud to serve it every day.
Dr. Jen grew up in small-town northern Illinois with animals always by her side — starting with her first cat, Frisky, at age 5. After years of grooming and managing a boarding facility, she graduated as valedictorian from veterinary technician school and worked as a licensed vet tech for 7 years.
Her relentless drive to learn and do more for animals led her to return to school at 34 and earn her DVM at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with highest honors in May 2023. She then spent 3 months training with her mentor in Illinois performing daily abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds — a skill she is thrilled to bring to Coronado Animal Clinic.
Dr. Jen is passionate about being present at every stage of a pet's life — from the first puppy or kitten visit to preventative care, through every bump in the road, and when the time comes, helping families say goodbye with compassion and dignity.
